We spent three nights in this hostel which was in the middle of nowhere. We got a kick out of seeing the horse drawn wagons of the caravan vacationers out back, but were bewildered by our confusing welcome. A young man who barely spoke English had trouble finding our reservation (which had been well-handled via Internet by a woman named Liz), but then we were shown to our room which contained five bunks, a dim overhead light, and a nice private bathroom. I'm sure the smoke detector is older than my teenage children's ages combined and that had me a bit worried. Unlike the other hostels in which we stayed, we were pretty much on our own here. Our hosts did not introduce themselves and we did not feel all that welcome. Every now and then we saw Marty the owner. Only when I had to knock on their section of the house to request a clean sponge (the other one was disgusting) and some dry dish towels did I meet the woman - and only after I asked her name. Our three days there saw the same two towels - usually soaked. No real place to store our groceries. Had to find the second fridge on our own. The pots and pan situation was a joke - not a large frying pan to be had. The guests all took turns sharing it.

Not sure why people raved about this place. We enjoyed seeing the puppies that were about 5 weeks old and when we asked, Marty was helpful with directions. Had we not gone to this hostel we would not have gotten to know this section of the country, but personally I was put off by the lack of hygiene in the kitchen, the cob webs all over building, and the dripping ceiling in front of the stove from the shower above that section of the kitchen. I did point this out, but nothing was done about it. The stains on the ceiling proved this had been happening for a while. The buildings are interesting and renovations are happening, but I doubt I'd return to this place.

hmmm nice article... well its not at all anyone's fault. what i belive all the occasions or specials days being celebrated are more for show off these days... ppl usually celebrate these days just to be "IN". how many couples really meant to be together on 14th, on that particular day all of them by the time they reached home how many broke and back to same routine of fighting and arguring with each other. they were together to show off nothing else. LOVE doesnt exist between them. ofcourse exceptions are there.
thats how i see this 14th feb occasion dont know abt the rest.

Well said shreky you remind me of this quote
"They do not love that do not show their love."
"William Shakespeare"

We really should not confine our love on Valentines Day and should feel love with each and every breath of our life. Valentines Day… a special occasion to rethink that are we lacking this immense feeling in ourself.

A love dipped kiss for my loved one….. my loving wife.
